Cette première exposition personnelle en France de l’artiste canadien Adam Basanta propose de découvrir une sélection d’installations visuelles et sonores basées sur des dispositifs techniques représentatifs de l’ère de la reproductibilité technique du son: enregistreur, microphone, haut-parleur. Le temps de l’exposition, voix se répétant à l’infini, chuintements et cliquetis, sons aériens composent une évocation aurale teintée de mélancolie de la société des médias basée sur l’enregistrement la reproduction et l’amplification de messages (sonores).

Ses oeuvres ont été présentées en Amérique du nord et en Europe, et lui ont valu les prix Ars Electronica 2013 (mention honorable, catégorie «art hybride») et Edith-Russ-Haus pour les artistes émergents 2014. Adam Basanta vit et travaille à Montréal.

This first solo show in France by Canadian artist Adam Basanta proposes to discover a selection of visual and sound installations based on technical devices representative of the era of the technical reproducibility of sound: recorder, microphone and speaker. Voice repeated endlessly, hissing and rattling, feedbacks will compose a melancholic aural evocation of the society of the media based on recording the reproduction and amplification of (sound) messages.

Adam Basanta (b. 1985) is a Montreal-based sound artist, composer, and performer of experimental music. His work traverses sound installations, experimental electronic and chamber music composition, site-specific interventions, and laptop performance. Across disciplines and media, he interrogates intersections between conceptual and sensorial dimensions of listening, the materiality of technological apparatus, and the instabilities of instrumentality.
