Au travers d’une sélection de 10 artistes contemporains français et étrangers cette exposition revisite l’imaginaire tant lié à l’Opéra qu’aux débuts des technologies de l’enregistrement au 19ème siècle et envisage le chant comme une technologie du corps, et l’enregistrement comme une technologie de la voix.
Through a selection of artists inspired by the the writings of J. Verne, G. Leroux, H. de Balzac, A. Rimbaud or J. Cocteau, « Le voile du palais » investigates the relationship between voice and technology, whether organic or mechanical. Namely, voice as a technology of the body and recording as a technology of the voice.At Opéra de Rennes, the ehxibition focuses on opera singing, the opera singer being an iconic representation of the act of singing, of the voice itself. At Phakt gallery, the exhibition explores the beginnings of recording technologies, which were mainly dedicated to the human voice. An history of sound recording leaving room to ghosts and the imagination bound to the fact of putting voices in box.
